Registration for pre-K and kindergarten is open for the 2024-25 school year for incoming students at Salmon River Central School District.
Families can register their child online on the Student Registration section of the district website. Alternatively, families may pick up a registration packet at the Salmon River Elementary or St. Regis Mohawk School offices during normal school hours.
The registration deadline is June 1, 2024.
Registration criteria
- Students who are entering pre-K must be four years of age by Dec. 1, 2024.
- Children who are entering kindergarten must be five years of age by Dec. 1, 2024.
- Children who have already been enrolled in the Salmon River Preschool program do not need to re-enroll for kindergarten.
Parents or guardians must include proof of residency, a birth certificate for the child, immunization records and a Tribal card if they have one. Students entering pre-K must also have a record of lead screening.
Open houses to be held April 17
Both Salmon River Elementary School and St. Regis Mohawk School have planned Pre-K Open House events on Wednesday, April 17, for new parents and caregivers.
The Pre-K Open House events will be held at Salmon River Elementary School, 637 County Road 1, Fort Covington, NY 12937, from 4-6 p.m., and at St. Regis Mohawk School, 385 Church Street, Akwesasne, NY 13655, from 4-6 p.m.
At the open houses, the schools will provide an opportunity for families to register their children on site and ask questions about the process. In addition, parents, caregivers and children will be able to meet pre-K teachers and check out classrooms in the buildings.
