Beginning With Books
The Beginning with Books program is a story and craft hour available to any child age birth through four. The program is designed to foster a love of reading through books, crafts, and other activities, and is geared to young infants to school age children. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
An important aspect of the story hour is to keep it simple and consistent. Each session, children hear a story, participate in a craft activity, and then have a snack. Every Beginning with Books is ended with the Goodbye Song.
The program averages 10-14 children a week and often a senior student from Salmon River is on hand to help out. Parents and teachers often notice that Beginning with Books students have an easier time when starting school.
