The Salmon River Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Danielle Chapman as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, effective May 1, 2026.
Chapman brings more than 28 years of experience in education, along with a strong background in instructional leadership, program development, and student support services. She currently serves as Director of Educational Support Services at Massena Central School District, where she has led district-wide initiatives in intervention services, staff mentoring, program development, and Indigenous Education programming.
Chapman began her career in education as a teacher at St. Regis Mohawk School, where she taught for 15 years. She later served students at Salmon River Middle School for five years and went on to become an elementary principal in Massena, a role she held for five years before transitioning into district-level leadership.
Her appointment marks a meaningful return to the Salmon River community.
“I have always dreamed of beginning and ending my career in the Salmon River community,” Chapman said. “This is home for me, and I’m truly honored to return.”

Chapman’s connection to the district is deeply rooted. Her mother taught at St. Regis Mohawk School for 37 years, and Chapman intentionally began her own career there, reflecting a longstanding commitment to the community.
In her new role, Chapman will oversee curriculum and instructional practices across the district, with a focus on data-informed decision-making, particularly in reading and math, and ensuring all students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.
“My goal is to make sure our teachers and staff have the resources and support they need to provide strong, engaging, and culturally meaningful instruction,” Chapman said.
Chapman is recognized for her collaborative leadership style and dedication to building strong relationships among staff, students, and families.
“At the heart of everything I do are relationships,” she said. “When we work together and support one another, that’s when real growth happens.”
She also emphasized the importance of supporting all staff members in their role in student success.
“I believe that every staff member, no matter their role, contributes to student learning,” Chapman said. “It’s important to me that each person feels seen, heard, and supported so they can do their best work for our students.”
District officials expressed confidence that Chapman’s experience, leadership, and deep ties to the community will support continued growth and success for Salmon River students and staff.
