Salmon River CSD Encourages Water Safety Awareness

Salmon River Central School District is committed to supporting the health and safety of all students both in and out of the classroom. In accordance with New York State Education Law §926, the district is providing families with information and resources to promote water safety and help prevent drowning.

With many families enjoying pools, lakes, rivers, beaches, and other waterways throughout the year, practicing safe habits around water is essential. Drowning can happen quickly and quietly, making close supervision and proper safety precautions especially important for children.

Families are encouraged to always supervise children around water, never allow anyone to swim alone, ensure children wear properly fitted life jackets when boating or participating in water activities, follow posted safety rules, and help children develop basic swimming and water safety skills whenever possible.

The New York State Department of Health offers additional resources to help families stay informed and prepared:

By working together and following these simple safety practices, we can help ensure that every child enjoys water activities safely throughout the year.
