Salmon River announces next steps in superintendent search, Invites community input

The Salmon River Central School District has announced the next phase of its superintendent search process, which will include the opportunity for community engagement and feedback.

On June 9, the Board of Education announced it had named two finalists for the position, Mr. Benjamin Barkley and Dr. Corey T. Hepburn.

The interview process will continue July 13 and 14.

On Monday, July 13, both candidates will participate in a second round of interviews with the Board of Education and a community stakeholder group. Those interviews will be followed by 20-minute public presentations by both candidates in the Middle/High School Auditorium.

Hepburn will present at 6:30 p.m.

Barkley will present at 7 p.m.

All school staff and any member of the community are invited and will be given an opportunity to provide feedback electronically, so attendees are encouraged to bring a mobile device. Please note that a question-and-answer session will not be included.

On Tuesday, July 14, the two candidates will interview with four school district based stakeholder groups. Those groups will represent students, teachers, non-teaching staff, and school administrators and other senior leadership.

All stakeholder feedback gathered throughout the process will be compiled and presented to the Board of Education during its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 15.

“We look forward to these final rounds of interviews and to hearing the feedback of our community as we prepare to select our next leader,” Salmon River Board of Education President Jason Brockway said. “This is a critical decision for the future of our district, and community input is an essential part of that process.”
