At approximately 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, a small fire occurred inside Salmon River High School caused by a charging lithium battery from a drone used as part of the school’s soccer drone program. The fire was quickly discovered, and no injuries were reported.

The local fire department responded immediately, and all students were evacuated from the building as a precaution. The campus was subsequently cleared by the fire department, and students have returned to class.

The safety and well-being of students and staff remains the district’s top priority. The district appreciates the quick response and cooperation of students, staff and the local fire department as established safety procedures were followed.
