Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
Welcome to a brand-new school year at Salmon River! We are thrilled to open our doors and begin another year of learning, growth, and exciting opportunities for our students.
First, let us celebrate a tremendous achievement together—our students made strong gains on the New York State Exams this past spring! Their dedication, your support, and the hard work of our teachers all contributed to this success. Even more, our high school Class of 2025 reached an impressive 91.2% graduation rate—a testament to the commitment of our entire school community.
As we look forward, we are focused on building upon this positive momentum. One key factor in student success is consistent daily attendance. Research consistently shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher academic outcomes, build stronger social connections, and develop habits that lead to lifelong success (Attendance Works, 2023). We ask for your partnership in ensuring your child is here, ready to learn, every day.
Equally important is student involvement. Whether it’s joining a club, participating in after-school programs, or being part of a sports team, being actively engaged helps students form friendships, develop leadership skills, and build a sense of belonging. Studies show that students who are involved in school activities are more likely to achieve academically and graduate on time (Fredricks & Eccles, 2006). We encourage all of our students to take part in something they are passionate about this year.
Our dedicated administrators, teachers and staff are eagerly preparing classrooms, planning lessons, and creating an environment where every student can thrive. They can’t wait to welcome your child—or children—back and to make this a fun, inspiring, and successful year.
At Salmon River, our motto is simple but powerful: “All are Welcome!” We believe in every student’s potential and are excited to work together as a school community to ensure their success.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership, support and for entrusting us with the education and care of your children. Here’s to a year of learning, growth, and positive memories that will last a lifetime!
Yours in Education,
Dr. Stanley Harper
