Salmon River CSD Announces Additional Leadership Transitions

The Salmon River Central School District is sharing additional leadership updates ahead of spring break, with changes set to take effect upon the district’s return.

As previously announced, Ben Barkley will serve as Interim Superintendent of Schools following spring break, effective April 4. Barkley, who has served the district for more than 20 years, will take a leave of absence from his role as High School Principal while assuming this position.

During Mr. Barkley’s leave of absence from his role as High School Principal, Teresa Mitchell (VanDunk) will serve as Acting High School Principal. In this role, she will oversee the daily operations and logistical functions of the High School. Ms. Mitchell brings valuable experience and a strong understanding of our school community.

To further support secondary-level operations, Danielle French will serve as a 6–12 Administrator. In this role, she will support both the Middle School and High School, assisting with instructional leadership and planning, building operations, and student management.

District leaders note that these transitions are designed to maintain a supportive environment for students, staff, and families.

The Board of Education continues its work with Franklin-Essex-Hamilton (FEH) BOCES District Superintendent Dale Breault on the search for a permanent superintendent, with the goal of appointing a new district leader in summer 2026.
