Dear Members of the Salmon River Community,

We want to share an important update as the investigation into recent allegations of student mistreatment continues.

Based on information reviewed so far, the District has reassigned additional employees, effective immediately, to ensure the investigation can proceed as intended.

Effective Tuesday, January 27, Ms. Rebecca Pentalow will serve as Acting Salmon River Elementary School Principal. 

The district’s investigation, led by an external law firm charged by the Salmon River CSD Board of Education to act autonomously and independently, is focused on developing a full and accurate understanding of what occurred, and the Board is committed to thoughtfully responding to its findings.

Separately, the New York State Education Department is conducting a concurrent review.

We know this has been a difficult time for many in our community. Our focus remains on accountability, student safety, and strengthening trust within the school community.

We will continue to share updates as the investigation moves forward.
