Salmon River Central School District, in conjunction with the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club, is proud to announce a special event focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness featuring keynote speaker Kevin Hines. The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at the Salmon River Central School Auditorium.
Kevin Hines is a world-renowned mental health advocate, author, and filmmaker who is best known for his powerful story of surviving a suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge. One of only a handful of people to survive the fall, Kevin has since dedicated his life to sharing his story to inspire hope and encourage others to seek help.
His notable works include his memoir, Cracked, Not Broken: The Kevin Hines Story, and the documentary film he produced, Suicide: The Ripple Effect.
The event is open to the public. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 5:00 p.m. A spaghetti dinner will be served immediately following the presentation, providing an opportunity for community members to connect and continue the conversation.
This event is part of a broader initiative to raise awareness and provide resources for mental health within the community. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
