Public Information Session on Potential New District Water Source Tuesday April 22nd at 6PM, Auditorium

During routine water testing of the District’s drinking water last year, the District discovered that the water contained trace levels of acetone.  The District has been working with the New York State Department of Health to address the trace levels of acetone and update the current water filtration system until a capital project could be approved by the voters.  With the capital project approved on October 22nd, the Department of Health has requested that the District find a new source of water.  The District solicited proposals from the Town of Fort Covington and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.  Both proposals have been approved by the New York State Department of Facilities Planning and the New York State Department of Health.

The Salmon River Central School District and the New York State Department of Health invite the public to join them on Tuesday, April 22nd at 6 PM in the Auditorium for a public information session concerning the potential new District water source.  Representatives from the Fort Covington Town Board and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe will be presenting their proposals to provide the District with water.  Representatives from both Municipalities as well as the Department of Health will be available for a question and answer session after the presentations.  The Board of Education will make a final decision on the water proposals at the April 29th meeting.
