Salmon River Central School District Reopening Plan

We know that there may be questions about the 2020-2021 school year that may not be addressed in our previous updates on Health and Safety, and Academic Instruction. With this in mind, we will be holding a series of virtual town hall meetings to address questions and concerns. An informational session will be with all District staff via ZOOM on August 13th from 1-2pm.  Staff are asked to submit questions to their Administrator.  Informational virtual town hall meetings will be held on our Facebook page with the community to share the reopening plan and answer questions about the plan.  Community members are welcome to submit questions about the plan by emailing   Questions can also be submitted in writing to the District Office or by calling 518-358-6610.  The meetings will be held on:

The safety of the employees, students, families, clients, partners and visitors remains our top priority. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, we will closely monitor the situation and will periodically update our guidance based on current recommendations from New York State.

Based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions (e.g. serious heart disease, chronic lung disease or asthma, immunocompromised, severe liver disease, etc.) might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. If you are concerned about underlying medical conditions, please consult with your personal medical health care provider.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the potential risk of exposure to our workforce, we are conducting a simple screening. Your participation is important to help us take precautionary measures to protect you and everyone in this facility. We request you complete this screening everyday prior to entering a facility. Based on your response, you will be informed if you should report to work or if you can enter our facilities.

Technology Resources:

For parents, guardians, or students that are having problems with their school-issued Chromebook:
The Technology Office has created a Student Tech Help Desk for those that need technology support. You can send your help requests directly to through the link.  Students will use their email address (Google account), to log in. Some examples related to this support would be as follows –
  • General connection support
  • Problems connecting to Google Classroom or other education-based applications
  • Chromebook damage or parts replacements
  • Problems with being unable to power on or off the Chromebook

Students needing to reset their Email/Google password will need to contact their building directly for a password reset.

WIFI Access

The Salmon River Central School District worked with Community Agencies and Town officials to coordinate additional Wifi Hotspots for students in the rural communities of the district. Thank you to all community partners for helping our students work remotely during this time.

Wifi Locations:

Iohahi:io –  8 am – 8 pm parking lot with social distancing

Bombay Town Hall on Lantry Road –  WiFi available at the pavilion from 8 AM to 9 PM seven days a week.

Westville Fire Department –  WiFi Network “Student Access” is now enabled… for best results, use the parking lot on the north side of the station (the side towards the bridge). Please do not block the driveway or the doors to the station including the overhead doors, please do not leave trash in the parking lot and please stay on the pavement and off the grass.

Fort Covington Fire Department – Access the guest Wifi, password is SRCS. Please park in the parking lot to the side, please do not park in front as the fire department will need to get out for any emergencies.

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and Resort HR Building –  Located in Speedway Plaza, Wi-Fi will come up as AMCguest

Mohawk Networks Office Building: Stop in the Mohawk Networks parking lot to connect to “Community WiFi”, available daily from 8:00am to 9:00pm.

Akwesasne Library: Passwords will be posted on their door; Access from the front and back parking lot.

Three Feathers: Requesting that students remain in the car to download/upload their assignments, please do not gather in the cafe, password is 3feathers

Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols:

The District will follow all Center for Disease Control (CDC), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), New York State Education Department (NYSED) as well as District developed Standard Operating Procedures for cleaning and disinfecting materials and routines.  District standard operating procedures (SOPs) can be found on the district website.

Routine deep cleaning will be done by the trained custodial staff every evening after students have been dismissed as well as throughout the school day in high touch areas.  High touch areas include:

  • Tables
  • Doorknobs
  • Light switches
  • Countertops
  • Handles
  • Desks
  • Telephones
  • Keyboards and tablets
  • Toilets and restrooms
  • Faucets and sinks
  • Nurses offices

To deep clean the rooms we will be using the Victory Electrostatic Sprayer that is designed to save time and labor, spray less liquid, and cover more surfaces. Victory Sprayer provides an electrical charge to solutions, allowing them to wrap conductive surfaces with an effective and even coverage. Double-charged particles envelope all conductive surfaces – shadowed, vertical and underneath.  The electrostatic sprayer that we are using is found below as well as the safety data sheet and links to some helpful demonstration videos:

The cleaning agent we are using is Bioesque Disinfectant Solution.  It is capable of cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting and deodorizing in a single step, Bioesque’s Botanical Disinfectant Solution is a natural solution for a wide range of cleaning challenges.
