Orange for Colby

On October 5th, the Salmon River Soccer programs hosted an Orange for Colby event. The JV and Varsity squads hosted Canton and donned orange shirts for warm ups and orange socks for the game. The girls modified teams assisted in donation collection during the games. A total of $337 was collected for Colby and his medical needs.

Below is the message that was announced before the game. Senior Taylor Swamp, Junior Yanenowi Logan, and Sophomore Talynn Wylie spoke to the cause.

Good afternoon, we would like to thank you all for attending today’s special game. We are going “Orange for Colby”. Colby is a classmate of ours that has been battling Leukemia and is currently receiving treatment in Burlington, Vermont. Orange is his favorite color and the color of the Leukemia Awareness Ribbon.

Leukemia is the most common cancer in children and teens, accounting for almost 1 out of 3 cancers. Leukemia is a cancer of the white blood cells and quickly spreads from the bone marrow to crowd out healthy blood cells.

We hope that today we can make a small contribution to him and his family through our 50/50 raffle. We thank you all, Canton Girls Soccer, fans and community members for all of your support! Keep fighting Colby!
