September 2004  ~ Book of the Month

Babushka’s Doll,
by Patricia Polacco

Character Trait  = Respect

This Book of the Month was chosen by Tiffany David, from the St. Regis Mohawk School and Tyler Smiddy, from Salmon River Elementary.

“Have you ever been begged so much you got sick of it? Well here’s a story call Babushka’s Doll and it’s about a little girl begging Babushka to do stuff with her. I think babusha is sick of hearing Natasha beg all day long. “
“I gave this book a 4 because I think all the little kids should read this book because it’s appropriate and they like to beg until they get it. When I was a little kid I use to beg people all the time and I still do sometimes so actually this book is appropriate for all ages. This book was a good book cause it shows how to respect somebody at the end of the book. “

"The girl in the story starts to realize how her grandmother might feel.....as the doll is crying and complaining, just like she did to her grandmother. So the grandmother set her up to learn respect. "
